Do heirs pay inheritance tax on a property in Menorca?

Inheritance tax (ISD) applies, but the Balearic Islands grant substantial relief between close relatives, so the real amount is often far lower than families expect. We calculate exactly what is due in your case.

I have a will in my home country. Is that enough?

Often it can be, but it must be coordinated with the Spanish estate. Under the EU Succession Regulation you can choose the law of your nationality to govern your estate. We check that your wills work together and cover the Spanish property.

What has to be done in Spain when someone dies owning property here?
